It has been busy at school. Lots has been happening. On October 30th, Fox Hill had its first vocabulary parade. It was very exciting. The children did a great job deciding on a vocabulary word. It was so much fun to hear the vocabulary words of all the children as well as see how they dressed to show their word.
This week we will review our spelling words that have been introduced so far. We will not start a new set of words because of the two days off for the children. Please continue to practice these words with your children so they will be able to spell them in their writing. Also, as the children bring home guided reading books to read to you at night, please set aside some time to listen to them read the story to you. This story was read in class with the teacher. They need to practice reading this book to help them develop expression and fluency when reading. It is important that the books are returned to school the next day. Thank you for your help with this.
On Friday, I sent home a form for conferences. Please be sure to fill it our and send it back by Friday, November 13th. I will do my best to accommodate your choices. I will send home a confirmation note with your day and time.
The children are very excited about the Peppermint Parade. On Friday, they chose a poem they would like to learn and recite in our production in December. Invitations will be coming home to you soon. Please help your child learn his/her poem and practice with them each night. We will have our first practice this week as we begin to prepare for the show.
The November Scholastic Book Club flyer will come home Thursday. If you would like to order books you may do so on-line or fill out the order form on the back of the flyer and send it into school with a check made out to Scholastic Reading club. Please return orders by Monday, November 16th. If you would like to order any books as gifts just let me know and I will hold them for you and let you know when you can pick them up.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and support.
